Member Services Coordinator Job Opening at the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce

The Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce is currently seeking a part time Member Services Coordinator (approx. 30 hours per week.) This individual must thrive working in a collaborative environment with volunteers and the public. Duties include clerical and communication support, database management, light accounting work, assisting in the scheduling, planning, preparation of events and programs, selling, maintaining and promoting membership, updating communications and marketing materials, and other tasks as necessary. Knowledge in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Powerpoint, and social media preferred. Send resumes to Resumes must be received by August 25, 2017.

Job Description

Clerical support duties of SLCC operations including filing, copying, assembling, sorting, processing routine requests for information, daily mail, organizing, and handling items on a priority basis and timely manner. Typing and proofing a variety of correspondence, forms, memorandums, reports, member mailings, newsletters, and other written materials as directed.

Maintain accurate and organized document management system for SLCC records and files, including up-to-date membership records

Identify and acquire new membership investors from non-member businesses

Retain existing members through the renewal of membership investments

Lead and assist with the budgeting, scheduling, planning, preparation of events

Recruit, train and manage volunteers

Assist with advertising and marketing duties; sell advertising and sponsorship for various projects, promote programs, offers, and other SLCC projects

Maintain, monitor, and update SLCC website content and social networks (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

Maintain a positive working relationship with our Chamber Members, Partners, the City of Spirit Lake and other community organizations

Assist Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce CEO with project management

Receive and screen telephone calls and visitors; provide courteous and responsive assistance; answer questions and provide information to the public; and respond professionally and appropriately when referring complaints

Be familiar with events, history, lodging, attractions, restaurants, shopping, meeting facilities and sports and recreation attractions and any other needed services or information the visitor requests

Process information requests received via the telephone, mail, email or in person

Greet all walk-in customers in a courteous and professional manner and assist them with their needs while promoting the SLCC Members

Arrange, coordinate, schedule, and assist with meetings and meeting facilities; prepare rooms; send notices and announcements as assigned; and arrange or assist with refreshments, as directed

Attendance at SLCC events outside of normal work hours may be required of this position

Perform other duties as assigned

Required qualifications:

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Social Media Networks (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) applications, general knowledge of Quickbooks is helpful

Valid IA Drivers License

Preferred qualifications:

Two (2) years experience in a position performing clerical, sales and/or communications and marketing duties

Required skills, abilities, and knowledge:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and social media applications. Strong record keeping and data management skills, and basic internet research skills. Knowledgeable in Quickbooks

Ability to answer SLCC inquiries from the public or members efficiently, and with a positive attitude, utilizing professional business practices of confidentiality and discretion

Time management skills in organizing projects and establishing priorities in managing workload, including problem solving skills

Effective written and oral communication skills, including editing written materials
